TTO - The Thien Tam Foundation, part of Vingroup, recently announced the launch of the "DNA Testing Support Program to Identify Fallen Soldiers" through the Vinmec healthcare system in commemoration of the 70th War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
Starting from July 27, families wishing to conduct DNA tests to identify fallen soldiers can contact the Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology.
The DNA testing will be carried out using next-generation gene sequencing machines. Additionally, the center will establish a genetic database for the relatives of fallen soldiers and suspected samples to analyze, compare, and exchange data with relevant authorities.

Professor Nguyen Thanh Liem, Director of the Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology, stated that the institute is focusing its resources and inviting domestic and international experts to develop an action plan and implement testing procedures to ensure the highest accuracy in the shortest possible time. This program is aimed at supporting underprivileged families searching for the graves of their fallen relatives, funded by the Thien Tam Foundation under Vingroup.

The Vinmec Research Institute of Stem Cell and Gene Technology is a modern research center specializing in stem cells and genetic technology. It excels in the fields of cellular biology, stem cells, human molecular genetics, and molecular biology, leveraging the expertise of specialists rigorously trained in Germany, the UK, and France. All work is conducted on synchronized systems that meet international standards.
The search and collection of fallen soldiers' remains is a significant post-war policy challenge that has garnered substantial attention from both government agencies and the public, yielding many positive results. However, many remains are still unlocated and uncollected. According to the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs, approximately 200,000 remains of fallen soldiers are yet to be retrieved from provinces in southern Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Additionally, over 300,000 remains have been collected and buried in cemeteries but lack identifying information. In total, more than 500,000 fallen soldiers remain unidentified.
Through the Thien Tam Foundation and the Vinmec healthcare system, Vingroup aims to assist underprivileged families searching for their fallen relatives, contributing further to this critical effort.
