Vinmec brings international standard technology to urticaria treatment

Hanoi – Vinmec Times City International General Hospital has received the UCARE certification, affirming its expertise in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of urticaria in accordance with GA²LEN international standards.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh, Director of the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Clinical Allergy and Immunology, Head of Internal Medicine, Vinmec Times City Hospital, and Deputy Director of the Vinmec-VinUni Immunology Research Institute, many people in Vietnam with acute and chronic urticaria use corticosteroid-containing medications improperly or rely on unverified herbal remedies. This can worsen the condition, making it harder to control and treat effectively while increasing treatment costs.

Accurate diagnosis based on appropriate testing and adherence to treatment protocols can enhance treatment outcomes, reduce complications, and minimize side effects from medication or uncontrolled conditions. “We always prioritize cost-effective treatments that deliver the quickest results, helping patients alleviate the burden of their disease,” said Dr. Nguyen Van Dinh.

At Vinmec, Urticaria Patients Receive Comprehensive and Effective Treatment. At Vinmec, urticaria patients are not only treated effectively but are also thoroughly screened for comorbidities, such as autoimmune diseases and allergies—underlying factors that can influence treatment outcomes. This ensures a comprehensive, tailored, and optimized treatment plan. After four weeks of treatment, results are assessed based on the Urticaria Control Score and Quality of Life Score, which are directly managed and measured for each patient.

In Vietnam, the Clinical Allergy and Immunology Center at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital is currently the only facility certified by UCARE. This certification reflects the center’s outstanding treatment efficacy for both adults and children, achieving a disease control rate of up to 76% and improving the quality of life for over 90% of chronic urticaria patients. Additionally, between 50% and 70% of patients see a normalization of their quality of life. These results are observed after four weeks of treatment following internationally recognized standards from EAACI, GA²LEN, EuroGuiderm, and APAA. Vinmec Times City is among the few healthcare facilities in Southeast Asia to meet the stringent 32-criterion evaluation for UCARE certification.

UCARE is an international certification granted by GA²LEN (Global Allergy and Asthma European Network). To achieve this certification, treatment centers must meet 32 rigorous criteria, including professional standards, the ability to monitor disease progression and control, the use of differential diagnostic algorithms, identification of comorbidities and potential causes, and more. Additionally, centers must fulfill requirements for hospital quality management and demonstrate effective collaboration with other specialties in managing related conditions, as well as proficiency in precise differential diagnoses and advanced diagnostic testing.

Achieving UCARE certification and joining the international network for urticaria treatment provides Vinmec with robust resources to enhance the effectiveness of treatment for acute and chronic urticaria. Patients can rest assured that their diagnosis, treatment, and disease management meet international standards and comply with UCARE’s stringent requirements. “This marks a significant step in delivering world-class healthcare services in Vietnam, offering tangible benefits to the community of chronic urticaria patients,” a Vinmec representative stated.

Currently, post-COVID-19 immune system disorders have made chronic diseases increasingly complex and challenging to manage. To diagnose and treat these conditions effectively, healthcare facilities must prioritize the development of clinical allergy and immunology specialties.

In Vietnam, the Vinmec-VinUni Immunology Research Institute is a leader in applying modern analytical technologies to study and evaluate immune disorders. Its flexible molecular allergen diagnostic system can perform diverse tests to diagnose both allergies and autoimmune diseases, delivering accurate and rapid results.
