Mr. Nguyen Xuan Hoa (64 years old, living in Ocean Park urban area, Gia Lam, Hanoi) attended many seminars combined with a cardiovascular screening at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital in 2023. Thanks to remembering and applying the knowledge learned from those sharing sessions, he promptly took his wife to the emergency room when she showed signs of chest pain and difficulty breathing, thanks to which his wife was saved.
In these programs, the Cardiovascular Center collaborated with the Emergency Department, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital to share knowledge in residential areas in Hanoi to recognize the signs and first aid when a loved one has a stroke or myocardial infarction. These are events that require the patient to receive proper first aid, and emergency treatment and treatment within the golden hour to recover well. Otherwise, the possibility of sequelae is very high, affecting the quality of life, even the patient's life.
After attending many Vinmec seminars, from a person who only knew the names of the diseases, Mr. Hoa has learned more about cardiovascular diseases to promptly take his partner to the emergency room when she had symptoms of chest pain and difficulty breathing. Because of timely hospitalization, when Ms. D.T.N (62 years old) suffered a circulatory arrest due to a ruptured heart, she was saved by doctors at Vinmec Times City Cardiovascular Center in September 2023. "My family made the right decisions in that very urgent moment, calculated in minutes. It is thanks to the knowledge provided by Vinmec doctors that my family is still alive. And so, I hope Vinmec will continue to maintain these very practical and useful community programs" - Mr. Hoa shared.

Currently, about 20% of the Vietnamese population is suffering from cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure. The Vietnam Heart Association also said that the rate of young people from 25 years old with high blood pressure is increasing. There are many signs of rejuvenation, cardiovascular diseases are not only a threat to the elderly but can "attack" anyone.
Cardiovascular diseases and metabolic disorders such as diabetes, hyperlipidemia can lead to the risk of heart disease and stroke. People with high blood pressure, diabetes, dyslipidemia, coronary artery disease... are considered to be in stage A of heart failure (a stage with risk factors).
Since April 2022, with the development and operation of a heart failure management program according to the standards of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), the Cardiovascular Center has collaborated with the Emergency Department, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital to regularly organize quarterly seminars to guide people on knowledge of screening for cardiovascular disease risk factors, how to recognize signs and instructions on first aid when a relative has a stroke or myocardial infarction.
At these programs, participants are also tested for free for blood sugar, blood lipids, blood pressure, heart rate, electrocardiogram, and at the same time, exploit information about their personal and family health history. From there, doctors will determine the level of risk of cardiovascular disease, guide health care, or orient the specialties that need in-depth examination to control risk factors. Here, Vinmec also shares with the public programs to support costs for patients with indications for cardiovascular intervention or surgery, helping many people have the opportunity to access more advanced and effective treatment methods.

Through 9 programs in 2022-2023, Vinmec doctors examined 1,100 people, detecting high-risk factors for cardiovascular disease for more than 50% of the total number of residents participating.
Not only directly going to many residential communities in Hanoi such as Times City, Royal City, Gamuda, Vinhomes Riverside, Ocean Park 1-2 urban areas, the program has spread to neighboring provinces such as Bac Ninh, Ha Tinh, Lao Cai to spread more awareness to people about cardiovascular health.
From the success of the program from 2022 to the present, it is expected that in 2024, the Cardiovascular Center, Vinmec Times City International General Hospital will continue to maintain this practical activity. "We will share more knowledge about coronary artery disease - a very hot cardiovascular issue today. Coronary artery disease is also increasing and getting younger. People also need to be equipped with knowledge that can be applied immediately to themselves to screen for diseases and receive early treatment" - MSc. Dr. Duong Thu Anh, Head of the Cardiology Department, Vinmec Times City Cardiovascular Center said.
