Objective: Describe the surgical technique and evaluate the results of Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery (PTNS Robot) to treat some abdominal diseases at Vinmec International Hospital.
Research method: Retrospective study of patients who underwent Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery at Vinmec International Hospital from December 2017 to August 2018 using the 3rd generation Da Vinci Si Surgical Robotic System.
Results: From December 2017 to August 2018, 27 patients underwent Robotic Laparoscopic Surgery, including 10 men and 17 women. Of these, 8 cases of obstetric surgery (29.6%), 4 cases of urology (14.8%), and 15 cases of digestion (55.6%). The surgery time ranged from 65 minutes to 312 minutes (average 168.89 ± 77.04 minutes). Docking time ranged from 7 minutes to 32 minutes (average 13.04 ± 5.08 minutes). There were no deaths during and after surgery; 1 case was converted to open surgery, and no instances required blood transfusion during surgery. The average hospital stay was 3.56 ± 1.78 days. Patients were monitored from 1 month to 8 months, and no cases had post-operative complications. The cost of robotic surgical instruments ranged from 50 to 95 million VND per case.
Conclusion: Laparoscopic surgery using robots is safe and feasible, and can be applied to many specialties.
