Vinmec Hai Phong Supports Hundreds of Underprivileged Individuals in Receiving Medical Treatment

In close collaboration with the Hai Phong City Red Cross and its affiliated organizations, Vinmec Hai Phong International Hospital has approached and supported medical examinations and treatment for  hundreds of underprivileged individuals, including those living near the poverty line, individuals with difficult circumstances, and veterans.

One notable case is that of Mr. Bui Duc Ria, a 77-year-old resident of Quan Tru, Kien An, Hai Phong, and a Class A, Level 4/4 war veteran suffering from hip osteoarthritis. This condition had made walking increasingly difficult for many years. Because of  financial challenges, he had resigned himself to living with his disability. Luckily, in April 2023, Mr. Ria was referred to Vinmec Hai Phong for a free screening program organized by the Hai Phong Red Cross
During the examination, Dr. Luu Hong Hai, an Eminent Physician and Associate professor Ph.D- Chief Medical Officer of Vinmec Hai Phong indicated a total cementless hip replacement surgery. Understanding the patient’s financial difficulties, Associate professor Ph.D Hai also proposed financial support for the treatment to ensure peace of mind for Mr. Ria. The surgery was performed a few days later, and within 24 hours, the patient began mobility exercises. Four days after the operation, Mr. Ria was discharged, and now he can regain normal mobility.
Mr. Ria is one of 820 residents of Hai Phong province who benefited from free medical screenings conducted  through 15 sessions at Vinmec Hai Phong Hospital  in 2023. Along with examination in various specialties, such as cardiology, gynecology, gastroenterology, urology, orthopedics, and musculoskeletal disorders. Vinmec Hai Phong doctors also educated residents about the early detection of diseases that are becoming increasingly prevalent among younger populations.
“For many people, it was their first time learning how to regularly monitor blood pressure to manage hypertension, perform self-breast examinations for early breast cancer detection, or undergo stool tests to screen for colorectal cancer. This has led to widespread hope that Vinmec will continue such initiatives regularly,” shared by Mr. Bui Manh Phuc, Vice President of the Hai Phong Red Cross.
2023 marked the first year that Vinmec Hai Phong International Hospital implemented free medical programs across multiple specialties for the community.
Driven by a strong spirit of community service, the hospital has consistently held monthly free medical check-ups with participation from leading specialists and good doctors from Vinmec Hai Phong and the Vinmec Healthcare System.
