1. What are the uses of Asentra?

Asentra 50mg with the main ingredient Sertraline is used to treat depression, stress disorders, and anxiety disorders. Asentra 50mg is prepared in tablet form, packaged in boxes: a box of 4 blisters, each blister has 7 tablets.
1.2. What is the effect of Asentra?
- Asentra 50mg with the main ingredient Sertraline is used to treat symptoms of depression, including depression accompanied by some anxiety symptoms, in patients with or without a history of mania. After the patient has a good response, continuing treatment with sertraline will be effective in preventing the recurrence of depression or recurrence in subsequent depressive episodes.
- Treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). After the initial response, Sertraline is used to maintain long-term effectiveness, safety, and good tolerance in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) for up to 2 years.
- Treatment of panic disorder, with or without agoraphobia.\
- Treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
2. How to use Asentra
2.1. How to use Asentra
- The drug is in tablet form and should be taken orally.
- How to use: Take Asentra with filtered water or cooled boiled water.
- Since food does not affect the absorption of the drug, the drug can be taken with or after meals. Take the drug once a day, in the morning or evening.
- Asentra 50mg should only be used when prescribed by a doctor.
2.2. Dosage of Asentra
- Treatment of depressive disorders
- Initial: 50mg taken once daily
- May increase by 25mg at 1-week intervals; do not exceed 200mg once daily
- Geriatrics: 25mg taken once daily initially; may increase by 25mg every 2-3 days; do not exceed 200mg once daily
- Depression associated with Alzheimer's dementia: Start at 12.5mg daily and titrate every 1 to 2 weeks to response; not to exceed 150 - 200 mg
- Treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Initial: 50 mg orally once daily
- May increase by 25 mg at 1-week intervals; not to exceed 200 mg once daily
- Under 6 years: Safety and efficacy not established
- 6 - 12 years: 25 mg orally once daily initially
- 12 - 17 years: 50 mg orally once daily initially; May increase by 50 mg once daily at 1-week intervals to not exceed 200 mg once daily given once at bedtime if somnolence experienced
- Treatment of panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Initial: 25 mg orally once daily
- Treatment of premenstrual syndrome
- 0.25 mg orally every 6 - 12 hours; start treatment on day 16 - 18 of menstruation (not to exceed 3 to 4 mg/day); dose tapered over 2 - 3 days after menstruation occurs
- May increase by 25 mg at 1-week intervals; not to exceed 200 mg once daily
- Treatment of social anxiety disorder
- Initial: 25 mg orally once daily
- May increase by 25 mg at 1-week intervals not to exceed 200 mg once daily
- Treatment of premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD)
- Initial: 50 mg orally once daily continuously throughout the menstrual cycle or during the luteal phase only
- May increase by 50 mg at the start of each new menstrual cycle; not to exceed 150 mg once daily when used continuously or 100 mg once daily when used during the luteal phase only
- Treatment of pruritus: 25 - 100 mg daily for up to 5 years; Doses of 75 to 100 mg are most effective
- Special cases: Renal impairment does not require dose adjustment
- Liver impairment
- Mild: Reduce the starting dose and recommended treatment dose by 50%
- Moderate to severe: Not recommended; Sertraline is extensively metabolized, and its effects in patients with moderate and severe liver impairment have not been studied
Users who forget to take a dose should be careful not to take a make-up dose. Subsequent doses should be taken as usual, and the dose should never be doubled to compensate. In addition, when taking an overdose, some symptoms may occur such as:
- Drowsiness, nausea, vomiting.
- Rapid heart rate, dizziness, fainting (rare).
- Shakes, agitation.

3. Contraindications of Asentra
- Patients who are allergic to any ingredient in Asentra 50mg
- Currently taking Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs such as Selegiline and moclobemide) or drugs similar to MAOIs (such as Linezolid). The time of taking these drugs should be far apart: After stopping treatment with Asentra 50mg, the patient should wait at least one week before starting treatment with MAOIs. Conversely, if taking MAOIs, the patient must stop taking the drug at least 2 weeks before beginning treatment with Asentra 50mg.
- Currently taking other drugs such as Pimozide (sedative).
- Pregnant and lactating women:
- The safety and effectiveness of Asentra have not been proven in pregnant women. Pregnant patients should only use it when necessary when there are no other alternatives. During the last 3 months of pregnancy, if the drug is used, it may increase the risk of serious side effects in the newborn.
- Women of childbearing age should use appropriate contraception if treated with the drug.
4. Notes when using Asentra
- When Asentra is required, patients must be carefully monitored for unusual or strong side effects.
- Hypersensitivity reactions may occur in sensitive people.
- Use with caution in the elderly, patients with liver failure, kidney failure, operating machinery, and patients with unstable epilepsy.
- Keep out of reach of children.
5. Side effects of Asentra
Some side effects that may occur when using Asentra are:
- Autonomic nervous system: Dry mouth, excessive sweating.
- Central and peripheral nervous system: Dizziness and tremors.
- Digestive system: Diarrhea, loose stools, indigestion and nausea.
- Psychiatric: Anorexia, insomnia, and drowsiness.
- Reproductive system: Sexual dysfunction (mainly delayed ejaculation in men).
- Autonomic nervous system: Mydriasis, priapism.
- Systemic: Allergic reactions, allergic reactions, asthenia, fatigue, fever and flushing.
- Cardiovascular system: Chest pain, hypertension, palpitations, periorbital edema, syncope, and tachycardia.
- Central and peripheral nervous system: Coma, convulsions, headache, migraine, movement disorders (including extrapyramidal symptoms such as hyperkinesia, hypertonia, bruxism, or gait abnormalities), paresthesia, and hypoesthesia.
- Signs and symptoms consistent with serotonin syndrome have also been reported in some cases of concomitant use with serotonergic drugs, including agitation, confusion, sweating, diarrhea, fever, hypertension, rigidity, and tachycardia.
- Respiratory: Bronchospasm.
- Skin: alopecia, angioedema, and skin rash (including, rarely, severe exfoliative dermatitis).
- Urinary system: Facial edema, urinary retention.
- Other symptoms: Symptoms that have been reported when stopping treatment with sertraline include agitation, anxiety, dizziness, headache, and paresthesia.
6. How to store Asentra
- Store below 30 degrees Celsius, avoid direct sunlight.
- Keep out of reach of children, do not let children play with the product.
