2. Can pregnant women use Ovumix suppositories?
To determine whether Ovumix suppositories can be used by pregnant women, you need to be aware of the indications and contraindications of this medication. Accordingly, Ovumix suppositories are contraindicated in the following cases:
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the medication.
- The first three months of pregnancy.
- Breastfeeding women.
- Patients with hematological disorders.
- Patients with central nervous system disorders.
Precautions when using Ovumix in the following cases:
- Use Ovumix suppositories with caution in patients with severe liver dysfunction.
- Do not use Ovumix suppositories before intercourse, as the medication may hinder conception.
- Ovumix does not prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases.
- The components of Ovumix suppositories may weaken condoms and vaginal diaphragms.
From the above contraindications, it can be seen that Ovumix suppositories should not be used by pregnant women during the first three months of pregnancy. In the later months of pregnancy, only use the medication when prescribed by a specialist, after considering the benefits versus the potential side effects.
3. Dosage and usage of Ovumix vaginal suppositories
The dosage of Ovumix suppositories should be as directed by your doctor. The recommended dose is 1-2 Ovumix suppositories per day. When symptoms improve, continue with a vaginal dose of 1 suppository daily before bedtime until the condition is completely cured, for a minimum of 5 to 10 days.
Steps for using Ovumix suppositories:
Step 1: Clean the intimate area with clean water. Then rinse with saline solution. When cleaning the intimate area, only wash the outside and avoid douching deep into the vagina. You can also use a feminine hygiene solution to clean the area.
Step 2: Wash your hands thoroughly with soap before inserting the suppository. Prepare the medication and a cup of cooled, boiled water nearby.
Step 3: Lie on a flat surface (like a bed) and bend your knees into an "M" shape to make insertion easier.
Step 4: Dip the Ovumix suppository in the water for about 20-30 seconds to moisten it. This will help the suppository soften and dissolve more easily in the vagina without causing discomfort. Insert the Ovumix suppository about one finger deep into the vagina.
Step 5: Stay still for 15 minutes to allow the medication to be absorbed optimally. Avoid getting up immediately after inserting the Ovumix suppository to prevent it from being expelled.
4. Side effects of Ovumix vaginal suppositories
Rare side effects of Ovumix vaginal suppositories include burning sensation, itching, and irritation of the vulva-vagina. It should be noted that the extent of absorption of Ovumix active ingredients through the vaginal mucosa is unknown, so systemic side effects cannot be excluded. The risk of side effects increases in patients with renal failure.
You should inform your doctor about any side effects you experience while using Ovumix vaginal suppositories for timely management.
5. Interactions of Ovumix with other medications
Avoid douching with alkaline substances while using Ovumix. Since the drug is slowly absorbed when used locally, systemic interactions cannot be excluded. It is not recommended to use Ovumix suppositories with:
- Alcohol (antabuse effect)
- Warfarin, Coumarin as they increase anticoagulant effects.
- Disulfiram.
Ovumix is commonly used to treat various gynecological diseases. To ensure effective treatment and avoid side effects, users must follow the instructions of their doctors and pharmacists.
