The main component of fluomizin, dequalinium chloride 10mg, is a quaternary ammonium compound with a broad spectrum of antibacterial effect:

  • Kills gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria causing vaginal infections
  • Kills Candida fungi
  • Treats Trichomonas vaginalis

Fluomizin is indicated for the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Bacterial and fungal vaginitis
  • Trichomoniasis
  • Prevention of infections before childbirth and gynecological surgery

2. How to use Fluomizin

Fluomizin has a special route of administration and should be used according to the doctor's instructions. Here are the steps for vaginal administration of Fluomizin: 

  • Wash your hands thoroughly with soap at first.
  • Clean the genital area with warm water and pat dry.
  • Assume a squatting position or lie down with your knees bent, or stand with one foot on a low chair to insert the medication.
  • Locate the vaginal opening and insert the tablet deep inside using your finger. The tablet can be moistened with warm water to facilitate insertion.
  • Remain in a lying position for at least 15 minutes after insertion.

During the administration process, patients should pay special attention to the following:

  • Fluomizin 10 mg should be used at night after personal hygiene and before bedtime. This allows for thorough cleaning and ensures a comfortable resting period after insertion.
  • Since the excipient of Fluomizin does not dissolve completely, it may stain underwear. Sanitary pads or liners can be used, and underwear should be washed at a temperature above 80°C.
  • Do not use a vaginal douche while using this medication, as this may wash away the medication.
  • Do not use the medication during menstruation.
  • Avoid sexual intercourse during treatment to maximize the effectiveness of the medication.
  • For pregnant women, no unwanted effects on the health of the mother and fetus have been reported post-marketing use and when used at the recommended dosage. However, caution is advised during the first trimester of pregnancy.
  • For breastfeeding mothers: There is no available data on the excretion of dequalinium into breast milk. Consult your doctor before use.
  • For those who drive or operate machinery: Fluomizin does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, so it is not to be used by these individuals.

3. Dosage and contraindications

The medication should only be used after a medical examination and prescription. Dosage depends on the severity of the condition, but typically, one tablet is used per day for six days, followed by regular follow-up visits. If you forget to take the medication one night, you can take it the next morning. However, ensure that the genital area is clean that day and do not insert two tablets at once. 4. Side Effects
