Due to a wound running from the neck to the chest, Vinmec Phu Quoc manages to save the life of a severely damaged patient.

A patient with extremely serious, maybe fatal injuries was brought to Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital on the evening of March 5. Even in the middle of the night, the hospital deployed all available resources, and the team of surgeons and resuscitation specialists worked with the operating room staff to focus on saving the patient's life.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang T. was admitted to Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital on the evening of March 5 in a very critical state, suffering from shock, substantial blood loss, lethargy, cold hands and feet, low blood pressure, and a slow heartbeat. Although the external bleeding from the lesion on the right side of the neck decreased after gauze was inserted, the patient was still having trouble breathing, his right chest was inflated, and his respiratory failure was evident and getting worse.

Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital has sounded the red alert, intubated for active resuscitation, and moved to the operating room to do emergency surgery to stop bleeding and preserve the patient's life since they recognize how urgent the situation is.

The operation was done right away, along with active resuscitation, albeit the surgical team had to briefly stem the bleeding by inserting a hand into the cut. The surgical team opened the chest wide enough to assess and halt bleeding from the injured blood vessels by cutting the right clavicle and splitting the sternum. Blood poured into the right pleural space as a result of the wound's perforations of the external jugular vein, subclavian vein, several branches of the subclavian artery, and the trunk of the right brachial vein.

The patient was saved after five hours of urgent surgery, "beating death" to the delight of the hospital and the family. The patient lost roughly 4,500 ml of blood throughout the procedure, as well as receiving 8 units of erythrocyte sedimentation, 2 units of fresh frozen plasma, and numerous additional fluids.

At that point, Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital summoned all available resources to preserve the patient's life. All operating room staff members were present to work together with the resuscitation crews to complete the procedure.

Doctors continued to sedate the patient after surgery and while he was in a serious state, mechanical ventilation was being used, and his vital signs were stable. In order to continue post-operative monitoring and evaluate the patient's ability to link blood vessels, the patient was then securely transported to Ho Chi Minh City. According to his family, Mr. T's health has improved recently, and he is now able to eat and drink.

It was not feasible to transport the ill individual to the mainland at the time due to the island's conditions, and even if it were, it would be challenging to keep up with them across such a long distance. The patient's life was spared because of the quick action and careful planning of the medical staff, including Dr. Phan Phi Tuan, chief of the surgery department at Vinmec Phu Quoc Hospital.
