Albothyl medicine is used in the treatment of some gynecological inflammatory diseases. So what does Albothyl medicine do and how to insert Albothyl medicine?
1. What effects does Albothyl have?
Albothyl is a vaginal suppository produced by Altana Manufacturing Company (Germany). Albothyl medicine's main ingredient is Policresulen 90mg. Policresulen is a gynecological antibacterial drug. The effect of this active ingredient is based on two interrelated mechanisms as follows:
- Antibacterial effect.
- Denatures necrotic tissue.
The process of aggregation followed by the removal of pathological and necrotic tissue stimulates the wound-healing process and promotes re-epithelialization. Squamous epithelium is less affected by policresulen than columnar epithelium. However, the researchers observed shedding of squamous epithelial cells in the vagina and cervix.
Policresulen is indicated in the following cases:
- Inflammation and tissue damage to the vagina and cervix cause secretions caused by bacteria, Trichomonas, and fungi.
- Endometriosis.
- Cervicitis and pain due to IUD placement.
- Ulcers due to compression of the uterine cap
- Genital prolapse
- Condyloma rooster crest
- Cervical ectropion.
Albothyl is contraindicated in people who are sensitive to any ingredient of the drug. Do not use Albothyl for children 18 years old or postmenopausal women, because we currently do not have research on its use on these groups.
Be cautious when using Albothyl in the following cases:
- A sign of the therapeutic effect of the drug Albothyl is necrotic tissue shedding from the vagina, sometimes in large quantities. Therefore, you should use sanitary napkins and change them regularly to prevent necrotic tissue from irritating the vulva.
- It is necessary to avoid sexual intercourse during treatment and for 7 days after treatment with Albothyl.
- Avoid bathing with soap during treatment because it may make Albothyl ineffective in preventing HIV infection and other sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and syphilis.
- Do not use Albothyl during menstruation.
- The drug Albothyl has a mottled color, it does not affect the use, efficacy, or tolerability of the drug.
- If clothing or leather items are contaminated with Albothyl, rinse immediately with water before the medication dries.
