Uses of Betimole

Betimol is a liquid eye drop used to reduce eye pressure to treat open-angle glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eye. Let's learn more about the effects, how to use the effects and notes when using Betimol through the article below.

1. What is the drug Betimol, when is it indicated?


Betimol with the active ingredient timolol is a beta blocker that also lowers eye pressure to treat open-angle glaucoma and other causes of high pressure inside the eye.
Betimol may also be used for purposes not listed in the medication's instructions for use.

2. Notes when using the drug Betimole


Betimol should not be used when the patient is suffering from asthma, severe COPD, bradycardia, heart condition with sinus node dysfunction syndrome " Sick sinus syndrome - SSS and atrioventricular block "AV block".
Possible side effects if this medicine is absorbed into the bloodstream Call your doctor at once if you have: chest pain, trouble breathing, slow heartbeat, muscle weakness, numbness or coldness in your arms or legs, changes in mood or behavior or causes severe dizziness
Before taking this medicine do not use it if you are allergic to timolol or if you have:
Asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease severe (COPD) Certain serious heart conditions, especially "Sick sinus syndrome" (SSS) or 2nd or 3rd degree "Block AV" atrioventricular block Severe heart failure Bradycardia cause fainting Tell your doctor if you have ever had any of the following:
Heart disease, stroke, blood clots, or other circulation problems Breathing problems Diabetes Hyperthyroidism Narrow Angle Glaucoma Allergies Causes myasthenia gravis. There is no evidence that this medicine can harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or plan to become pregnant. You should not breast-feed while using this medicine.
Betimol is not approved for use by anyone under 2 years of age.

3. How to use Betimole


Follow all directions on the medication label and read all medication instructions or leaflets. Your doctor may change the dose of the drug. The medicine should be used exactly as directed by the doctor.
Do not use Betimol while wearing contact lenses. Betimol may contain a preservative that can discolor contact lenses. After using this medicine, if you want to put on contact lenses, wait at least 15 minutes. Hands should be washed before using eye drops. How to put eye drops Tilt your head back slightly and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small groove. Bring and hold the dropper tip above the eye with the tip facing down. Close your eyes for 2 or 3 minutes with your head down, without blinking or squinting. Gently press your finger against the inner corner of your eye for about 1 minute to allow the fluid to drain into the tear duct. Use only the amount of eye drops your doctor has prescribed. If using more than one drop, wait about 5 minutes between drops. Wait at least 10 minutes before using any other eye drops your doctor has prescribed. Do not touch the tip of the eye dropper or touch it directly to the eye. Contaminated droppers can infect the eyes, leading to serious vision problems. Do not use the eye drops if the solution inside has changed color or has precipitated in it. Call your pharmacist for a new medicine. It may take up to a few weeks before symptoms improve. Continue using the medicine as directed and let your doctor know if symptoms do not improve after 4 weeks of treatment. If surgery, including eye surgery, is needed, tell the surgeon ahead of time that you are using Betimol. You may have to stop using this medicine for a short time. Do not stop using Betimol suddenly. Follow your doctor's instructions for dose reduction. Store the medicine at room temperature away from moisture, high temperature and light. Do not store in the freezer. Close the vial tightly when not in use. Keep each single-use ampoule inside the foil pouch until you are ready to use your dose. A disposable spool is for one use only. What to do if I miss a dose?
Use the medicine as soon as possible, but skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not use two doses at the same time.

Overdose symptoms may include dizziness, headache, slow heartbeat, and trouble breathing.
What should be avoided while using Betimol?
Betimol may cause blurred vision and may decrease reactions. Avoid driving or dangerous activities until you know how this medicine will affect you.
It may be necessary to use glaucoma medications other than Betimol. Do not use other eye medications unless your doctor tells you to.

4. Side effects of the drug Betimole


Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; shortness of breath; swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Although the risk of serious side effects is low with timolol ophthalmic, side effects can occur if the medicine is absorbed into the bloodstream. Call your doctor right away if you have:
Wheezing, chest pain, trouble breathing, slow heart rate A feeling like you might pass out Muscle weakness Depressed mood, confusion, hallucinations, thoughts or behavior micro abnormal Numbness or cold feeling in the hands and feet. Also call your doctor if you have the following symptoms:
Severe stinging or burning sensation after using eye drops Eye swelling, redness, severe discomfort, crusting or discharge (may be signs of infection) Blurred vision, tunnel vision, eye pain, or seeing halos around lights. Other common side effects of betimol may include:
Burning or stinging in the eyes Dry eyes, itching Feeling like something is in the eye Red or puffy eyelids; or headache. This is not a complete list of side effects and other possible side effects. Call your doctor for more information about side effects.

5. Drug interactions


What other drugs will affect the use of Betimol?
Sometimes it is not safe to use several medicines at the same time. Some medicines can affect the blood levels of other medicines you take, which could increase side effects or make them less effective.
Tell your doctor about all other medicines, especially:
Any other beta-blocking eye medicine such as: Betaxolol, carteolol, levobunolol or metipranolol Any other beta-blocking heart or blood pressure medicine - atenolol , bisoprolol , carvedilol, labetalol, metoprolol , nadolol, propranolol, sotalol, and others Heart or blood pressure medicine--amiodarone , clonidine, digoxin, diltiazem, disopyramide, nicardipine, nifedipine, reserpine, verapamil and others. This list is not exhaustive. Other drugs may affect Betimol, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Not all possible drug interactions are listed here.
