  • For patients with renal failure with ClCr ≥ 30mL/min, there is no need to adjust the dose of Arcoxia.

3.2. Dosage of Arcoxia for children

The dosage of Arcoxia for children has not been studied and determined, so consult your doctor before giving Arcoxia to your child.

4. CContraindications of Arcoxia

6. Notes when using Arcoxia

The patient's cardiovascular risk will increase with the dose and duration of use of selective COX-2 inhibitors, so Arcoxia should only be used for the shortest time, using the lowest effective dose.

The selective COX-2 inhibitor Etoricoxib in Arcoxia cannot replace Aspirin in the prevention of cardiovascular disease because Arcoxia has no effect on platelets.

Use Arcoxia with caution in: patients with clear cardiovascular risk (hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, smoking, concomitant use with acetylsalicylic acid), patients with significant dehydration (rehydration is required before using Arcoxia), patients with a history of perforation - ulcers and gastrointestinal bleeding, people over 65 years old, patients who have had acute asthma attacks, often have urticaria, rhinitis previously due to the use of salicylates or non-selective cyclooxygenase inhibitors, people who are being treated for infectious diseases....

When using Arcoxia, it is necessary to monitor the condition of water retention, edema, hypertension in people who already have water retention, hypertension, heart failure.

Monitor renal function in patients using Arcoxia with impaired renal function, decompensated heart failure, significant cirrhosis before taking the drug.

For pregnant women, Arcoxia should only be used during the first two trimesters of pregnancy if the benefits of Arcoxia outweigh the risks;

For women who are breastfeeding, Arcoxia should be discontinued or breastfeeding should be discontinued while using the drug

7. Interactions of Arcoxia

Arcoxia can interact with some drugs, changing the mechanism of action of the drugs used together or increasing the side effects of the drug. Therefore, before using Arcoxia, tell the medical staff all the drugs the patient is taking, including prescription and non-prescription drugs. Some drugs that can interact with Arcoxia:

  • Anticoagulant Warfarin;
  • Antibiotic Rifampicin;
  • Diuretics;
  • ACE inhibitors;
  • Angiotensin receptor blockers;
  • Lithium in the treatment of depression
  • Contraceptives;
  • Hormone replacement therapy;
  • Immune system suppressant Methotrexate.

Arcoxia is effective in reducing pain and inflammation of the musculoskeletal system. However, when not used properly, the drug can cause unwanted side effects. Therefore, patients need to be careful during use.
