Vinmec pioneers the application of Motion Analysis technology to help golfers improve their performance effectively and safely

Owning the first and only Motion Analysis Lab in Vietnam, Vinmec Sports Medicine will officially launch in-depth motion analysis for golfers according to international standards starting in 2024. This initiative is in collaboration with the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA) and Prof. Dr. Young-Hoo Kwon, the "father" of Biomechanics in Golf, to quickly identify limitations and improve the quality of swings. The high-tech application in sports medicine for golf has received strong support from the Vietnamese golf community.

For the first time, Vietnamese golfers have the opportunity to improve their performance with international methods

Currently, the application of science in sports has become a trend to protect athletes' health and sustainably enhance performance. Globally, combining motion capture systems, force sensors, and biomechanics has created breakthroughs for athletes seeking effective and safe performance improvements. Some famous athletes familiar with motion analysis include Cristiano Ronaldo (football), Usain Bolt (athletics), etc.

Golf is considered highly compatible with this science due to its high requirements for comprehensive coordination and meticulousness in each "swing" movement. Many professional golfers have applied biomechanics in golf, such as Tiger Woods, Bryson Dechambeau, Jamie Sadlowski, etc.

The brand new in-depth Motion Analysis program exclusively for golfers at Vinmec is built on the foundation of Biomechanics in Golf, which is widely applied in developed golf communities worldwide. Golfers will have their body, club, and ball movements recorded during a swing. After thoroughly analyzing the angles, forces, and moments at various positions, golfers will be "reprogrammed" to achieve the optimal swing.

During a recent visit to Vinmec, Prof. Dr. Kwon was surprised by the investment in sports technology in Vietnam and particularly praised Vinmec: "Thanks to Vinmec's top-notch equipment, Vietnamese golfers can play golf scientifically, accurately, and fully apply the Biomechanics method in golf."

This program is officially launched thanks to the strategic partnership between Vinmec and the Vietnam Golf Association (VGA). Additionally, Vinmec commits to supporting and providing comprehensive medical care services for athletes and the National Golf Team's coaching staff at Vinmec Health System hospitals and clinics nationwide in different phases; supporting medical services or other forms of sponsorship for professional and amateur tournaments, and community golf activities organized by VGA. Vinmec representative – Nguyễn Thị Thanh Bình – Director of Business Division at Vinmec Health System, stated: "The cooperation with the Vietnam Golf Association is part of Vinmec's key program to develop preventive medicine and sports medicine. With the backing of Vingroup, we always strive to promote research and high-tech applications in sports medicine."

In the future, Vinmec is expected to accompany VGA with the hope of developing the Vietnamese golf community towards professionalism, gaining a foothold in the region, and advancing on the international stage.
