VOV.VN - No longer just policy guidelines on paper, but practical actions applied in reality - this has been Vinmec's goal in recent years, especially in training high-quality human resources for the healthcare sector. The establishment of the Advanced Imaging Training Center (AIEC) under the Institute of Health Sciences - VinUni University is the clearest evidence of Vinmec's desire.
Realizing the dream of high-quality human resources
"In our time, we studied subjects sequentially, such as anatomy, symptoms, and then pathology... This often led to forgetting the knowledge between pathology and symptoms. Nowadays, the training model at universities has changed from the classical training method because reality requires doctors to continuously update their knowledge and practice to optimize treatment effectiveness," shared Associate Professor Bùi Văn Giang (Director of the Imaging and Interventional Radiology Department - Vinmec Healthcare System and Head of the Radiology Department - VinUni University).
At the Advanced Imaging Training Center (AIEC), students are provided with opportunities to access both basic and practical applications. Notably, after completing any training module, students can immediately practice in that specific area of pathology.
According to Associate Professor Giang, each course follows a model that combines domestic and international students. Additionally, foreign lecturers with expertise from major hospitals in the UK, USA, Australia, etc., will directly teach the students. The lecturers use original data and images for teaching. Students can process and reconstruct images and practice all hospital work steps through stations in the classroom.
Mr. Nguyễn Ngô Quang, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Training (Ministry of Health), evaluated this as one of the advanced models, both academic for research and training purposes and highly practical, helping to enhance the practical skills of clinical doctors. The operation of the Advanced Imaging Training Center is a suitable direction, updated with global standards, helping to improve the practical skills of doctors and provide the best healthcare services to the people.
Contributing to improving the quality of Vietnam's healthcare sector
Sharing after the course, Dr. Nguyễn Bá Phong (Medlatec General Hospital) said that the advanced musculoskeletal course he attended helped imaging doctors understand more about cases they had never encountered before. Particularly, the comprehensive facilities and image storage system, with many clinical cases from the center's image bank, satisfactorily answered the questions of doctors and teachers. "Clinical cases from both domestic and international sources provide a comprehensive view of musculoskeletal pathology. Additionally, clinical cases presented by surgeons help imaging doctors compare and contrast to reach the most reasonable conclusions, enhancing interaction between radiologists and surgeons," the doctor evaluated.
Analyzing the outstanding strengths of AIEC, Associate Professor Bùi Văn Giang pointed out that the courses at the Advanced Imaging Training Center will help experienced doctors continue to update new knowledge, combined with practical training on modern equipment, with high practicality.
In addition to imaging diagnostics, the center also has surgeons and lectures from orthopedic trauma doctors to provide students with a comprehensive view from diagnosis to treatment, prognosis, and other issues. Besides the initial topic on musculoskeletal MRI, the center will have courses related to other fields such as obstetrics, oncology, cardiology, etc.
"Our initial idea was to create an environment where everyone could practice as if they were in a hospital but with an academic nature right from the first course and in subsequent courses. This model is not only our dream but also the dream of healthcare managers. We hope to contribute our small efforts to state management and improve the quality of the healthcare workforce, thereby contributing to public healthcare," emphasized Associate Professor Bùi Văn Giang.
Immediately after completing the course, students will be awarded continuous medical education (CME) certificates in imaging diagnostics. In addition to the field of imaging diagnostics, Vinmec is also promoting long-term continuous training in anesthesia, emergency, resuscitation, surgery, etc., aiming to improve the quality of Vietnam's healthcare sector and provide the best treatment outcomes for patients.
