In January 2019, the 4th Regional Oncology Nursing Conference (RONC) was held at the National Cancer Centre Singapore. This event provided an excellent opportunity for healthcare professionals, including pharmacists from Vinmec Central Park, to enhance their knowledge and expertise in palliative care for cancer patients.
Participants:
- Nurse Trần Thị Thu: Head Nurse of the Oncology Center, Vinmec Central Park International General Hospital.
Training Content:
- Workshops on clinical care skills for oncology patients.
- Seminars on palliative care, psychological support, and related topics for cancer patients.
Palliative care for cancer patients focuses on improving the quality of life for patients facing life-threatening diseases and their families. It aims to alleviate suffering through early detection, comprehensive assessment, and management of pain and other physical, psychosocial, and spiritual issues.
Unlike direct cancer treatments, which aim to slow, stop, or eliminate the disease, the goal of palliative care is to improve the patient's quality of life.
It enables cancer patients to live as they wish during and after treatment while guiding their families on how to support the patient and care for themselves. This approach has become increasingly significant alongside direct cancer treatments.
