Uses of Lancap - 30

Drug Lancap - 30 is prescribed in treatment of stomach and duodenal inflammation and ulceration, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), treatment of Zollinger - Ellison syndrome. So are there any precautions when using Lancap - 30?

1. What is Lancap - 30?

Lancap - 30 belongs to a group of gastrointestinal drugs, a type of antacid drugs. The main ingredient of the drug is Lansoprazole 30 mg, a sufficient excipient ingredient in 1 capsule.

Lancap - 30 is prepared in the form of hard capsules. Packaging type is box of 3 blisters x 10 capsules, box of 1 bottle of 30 capsules.

2. What is the use of Lancap - 30?

Lancap - 30 contains the main active ingredient which is Lansoprazol, this is a kind of a benzimidazole derivative that has the effect of preventing gastric acid secretion. The drug specifically and irreversibly inhibits the proton pump due to its selective action on gastric parietal cells so it works faster and more effectively than other drugs. Lansoprazol is taken in short-term treatment for patients with gastric - duodenal ulcers and long-term treatment for patients with increased production of digestive juices. Healing rate of ulcer can get 95% after 8 weeks of treatment.

Prescription of Lancap - 30 for specific conditions in below:

  • Acute treatment and maintenance treatment of esophageal ulcer in patients with gastro - esophageal reflux
  • Treatment for patients with acute gastric - duodenal ulcers.
  • Treatment for pathological hypersecretory conditions, such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, multiple endocrine neoplasia, systemic mastocytosis.

3. Proper use Lancap - 30

3.1. How to use Lancap - 30:

The patients use Lancap - 30 by oral route. Note to take medicine in the morning before a meal. Do not crush or chew capsules due to being able to lose pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics of drugs. 

3.2. Dosage of Lancap - 30

Dosage for patients with esophageal ulcers: Adults take 1 capsule once a day; use for 4 to 8 weeks.

In the case of taking together Lancap - 30 with amoxicillin and clarithromycin in treatment for gastric - duodenal ulcers:

  • Take 3 medicines: 30 mg Lansoprazole, 1g amoxicillin and 500 mg clarithromycin; twice a day, use for 10 to 14 days.
  • Take 2 medicines: 30 mg Lansoprazole with 1g amoxicillin, three times a day, use for 14 days.

Dosage for patients with hyperacidosis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome: The starting dose for adults is 2 capsules once daily. Then, monitor and adjust doses to achieve the best treatment result.

3.3. How to deal with missed dose, overdose Lancap - 30

Missed dose: If missing a dose of Lancap - 30, take it immediately when remembering. The time allowed to take medicine is about 1 to 2 hours according to prescription. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take the next dose as usual. Do not double the dose at one time.

Overdose: When taking an overdose of Lancap - 30, patients have the following symptoms: low body temperature, jerk, decreased respiratory rate.

How to treat: Treat symptoms that occurred in an overdose. Hemodialysis does not help to remove Lancap - 30 from the body. If overdose symptoms become severe, take the patient to the nearest hospital medical facility for treatment.

3.4. Contraindication of Lancap - 30

Contraindicated Lancap - 30 in below conditions:

  • Cases of patients are hypersensitive to the active ingredient Lansoprazole, or allergic to any ingredient of Lancap - 30.
  • Do not use Lancap - 30 with pregnant women in the first 3 months of pregnancy.
  • Do not use the drug for breastfeeding women because Lansoprazole can enter the blood
  • Caution and reduce the dose of Lancap - 30 for people with impaired liver function.

4. Notes when using Lancap - 30

4.1 Side effect when using Lancap - 30

When using Lancap - 30 can experience the following unwanted side effects:

Common symptoms include:

  • Disturbance in digestive tract: diarrhea, acute abdominal pain, nausea, constipation, indigestion,...
  • Disturbance in nervous system: headache, insomnia, fatigue, dizziness,...
  • Allergic reactions: skin rash

Less common symptoms include:

  • Patients feel tired and have increased indicators in the blood, liver and kidneys
  • Patients have increased serum gastrin, increased liver enzymes, uric acid, proteinuria and hemoglobin.

4.2 Drug interactions and incompatibilities Lancap - 30

Due to the action of cytochrome P450 enzyme, Lansoprazole is metabolized in the liver and excreted from the body. Therefore, Lansoprazole can interact with other drugs that are also metabolized by this enzyme system.

In clinical studies, there were no reports of increased or decreased concentrations of theophylline, warfarin or diazepam when used simultaneously with Lansoprazole.
Simultaneous use of Lancap - 30 can reduce the effects of ketoconazole, itraconazole and some other drugs which are absorbed in an acidic environment. Simultaneous use of Lansoprazole with sucralfate reduces the absorption of Lansoprazole by 30%.

4.3 Lancap - 30 storage:

Store the medicine at a temperature below 30°C, avoid direct sunlight, avoid moisture, keep in a cool and dry place.

Do not leave unused medicine outside the manufacturer's packaging.
