1. What are therapeutic uses of Doxicap?

With this mechanism of action, Doxicap is indicated for the following conditions:
- Single or multilobar pneumonia caused by Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, Pneumococcus, or Haemophilus influenzae;
- Respiratory infections including pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media, tonsillitis, and bronchitis caused by beta-hemolytic Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Haemophilus influenzae, and Staphylococcus;
- Urinary tract infections such as cystitis, pyelonephritis, and gonococcal urethritis caused by Klebsiella aerobacter, Enterococcus, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, and E. coli;
- Skin and soft tissue infections including boils, cellulitis, impetigo, and paronychia;
- Gastrointestinal infections caused by Shigella, Salmonella, and E. coli.
2. Dosage, usage of Doxicap
Usage of Doxicap:
- Take Doxicap during or after meals with plenty of water while standing or sitting upright.
Dosage of Doxicap:
- Adults: A loading dose of 2 Doxicap capsules on the first day of treatment, followed by maintenance dose with 1 capsule once daily at the same time each day;
- Children over 8 years old: dose is 4 mg/kg/day;
- Severe infections: Adults should take 2 Doxicap capsules per dose once daily throughout the treatment period;
- Acute gonorrhea treatment: Take 2 Doxicap capsules at the start and 1 capsule in the evening before bed on the first day, followed by 1 capsule twice daily for 3 days;
- Treatment of uncomplicated urethral infections, cervical infections, or vaginal infections due to Chlamydia trachomatis and Ureaplasma urealyticum: Dosage is 1 Doxicap capsule twice daily for at least 10 days;
- No dose reduction is required for patients with renal impairment.

3. Contraindications of Doxicap
Do not use Doxicap in the following cases:

4. Drug interactions
Doxicap may cause drug interactions if taken concurrently with:
- Antacids containing aluminum, calcium, or magnesium;
- Iron and bismuth subsalicylate;
- Barbiturates, phenytoin, and carbamazepine;
- Warfarin.
To avoid interactions, patients should inform their doctor about all medications they are currently taking, including vitamins, herbs, and supplements, before being prescribed Doxicap.
5. Side effects of Doxicap
Like other broad-spectrum antibiotics, Doxicap may cause the following side effects:
- Nausea, vomiting;
- Diarrhea;
- Inflammation of the tongue and mouth;
- Proctitis;
- Esophagitis;
- Elevated SGOT or SGPT levels (transaminase enzymes primarily found in liver cells);
- Anemia, reduced white blood cell/neutrophil count;
- Increased eosinophil count.
During treatment, if any abnormal symptoms suspected to be caused by Doxicap arise, the patient should inform their doctor immediately for appropriate management.
