Opening of continuous medical training course "Caring for cancer patients"

In order to provide and improve nurses' knowledge of cancer pathophysiology, cancer prevention, screening, diagnosis, and treatment, skills in assessing and managing treatment-related side effects; and principles in implementing safe cancer treatment drugs. Based on Circular No. 32/2023/TT-BYT on guidelines for continuing education in the medical field along with the above reasons, the Oncology Department of Vinmec International General Hospital is organizing the development of a training program "Caring for cancer patients" with the following contents;

1. Output objectives of the training program

  • Present knowledge related to cancer biology, risk factors, and preventive measures.
  • Explain the principles of treatment, care, and management of cancer patients.
  • Apply the knowledge learned to provide information and health education to patients through specific scenarios and target groups.
    Identify risk factors and assess the side effects and complications of medical treatment and radiation therapy, and propose appropriate interventions through hypothetical scenarios and target groups.
    Implement cancer treatment drugs safely and effectively.
  • Proficiently use medical equipment and supplies in cancer patient care.
  • Demonstrate a sense of 
    responsibility in patient care including evaluating drug orders and monitoring complications from drug infusion.
    Respect the privacy and personal needs of patients.
  • Cooperate well with other medical staff in the process of patient care.
  • Encourage patients and their families to participate in the treatment and care process.

6. Expected number of participants: 18 participants per class 

Target audience: nurses and midwives according to program standards.

7. Benefits: Participants will be awarded 56 CME credit hours under code C26.17 after completing the training. The main instructors will receive a CME certificate based on the actual training hours while teaching assistants will be recognized for their training hours but will not receive a CME certificate.
