Launch the continuing medical education course: Caring for cancer patients

To provide and improve nurses' knowledge about cancer pathophysiology, preventive measures, screening, diagnosis and treatment of cancer, skills in assessing and managing side effects related to treatment; principles in safe cancer treatment implementation. Based on Circular No. 32/2023/TT-BYT issued by Vietnam Ministry of Health on guidelines for continuing medical education along with the above reasons, the Oncology Department of Vinmec International General Hospital has organized the training program "Caring for cancer patients" with the following contents;

1. Training objectives of the program

- Demonstrate knowledge related to cancer physiology, risk factors and preventive measures.
- Demonstrate principles in treatment, care and management of cancer patients.
- Apply knowledge in providing information and health education to patients through specific situations and individuals.
- Identify risk factors and assess side effects and complications of medical treatment and radiotherapy, thereby proposing appropriate interventions through hypothetical situations and subjects.
- Use cancer medications on patients safely and effectively.
- Proficiently use medical equipment and supplies in cancer patient care.
- Demonstrate a sense of responsibility in patient care, including evaluating drug orders and monitoring complications due to drug infusion.
- Respect the privacy and personal needs of patients.
- Cooperate well with other medical staff in the process of patient care.
- Encourage patients and their families to participate in the treatment and care process.

5. Expected number of students: 10 students

Target students: Nurses, midwives according to program standards.

6. Benefits: Students are granted 56 hours of CME credits under code C26.17 after training. The main lecturer is granted a CME certificate based on the number of actual training hours, assistant lecturers are recorded for training hours, no CME certificate is granted.
