Question
Hello Doctor,
I have a hard lump right in the anal area along with hemorrhoids. There is no bleeding during bowel movements, no pus in the anus, just a hard lump and anal itching. After a bowel movement, I see two small yellow protrusions different from the hemorrhoid color. Please let me know if the hard lump in the anal area is anal cancer or rectal cancer? Thank you for your advice.

Answered by Master, Doctor Nguyễn Ngọc Thắng - General Surgery Department, Vinmec Da Nang International Hospital.
Hello,
Regarding the question “Is a hard lump in the anal area an anal cancer?”, the doctor answers as follows:
The symptoms you describe suggest a case of External hemorrhoidal thrombosis (EHT) (a blood clot that can be felt like a “bean” under the skin at the edge of the anus), along with anal canal polyps. However, to determine the exact cause, you need to see a specialist in Gastroenterology/Colorectal Surgery for appropriate advice.
If you still have questions about whether the hard lump in the anal area is anal cancer, you can visit a hospital/clinic under the Vinmec Health System for early examination and treatment. Thank you for trusting and sending your question to Vinmec. Wishing you good health.
Sincerely!
