Question:
Hello doctor,
I had a C-section for my third child 6 months ago. However, my period has not returned yet. Could you please tell me how long after a C-section menstruation usually returns? I'm a bit worried and would really appreciate your advice. Thank you.

Hi there,
For the question, "How long after a C-section does menstruation return?". I will suggest:
If you are completely breastfeeding, your period usually returns later, around 7-8 months postpartum. In fact, it is very difficult to identify the exact time when menstruation will return for women after giving birth and breastfeeding. It may take 8-10 months postpartum for menstruation to return, which is completely normal. However, it is recommended to have a medical check-up, since your period might have not re-appeared yet, however you might be pregnant again.
If you have any questions and concerns about C-sections, you can visit a hospital belonging to the Vinmec Healthcare System for a thorough check-up and consultation.
Thank you for trusting and sending your question to Vinmec. Wishing you all the best.
Best regards.
