Oxygen therapy is a crucial and common technique for providing respiratory support to patients with pulmonary illnesses. This continuing medical education (CME) program aims to enhance the ability of healthcare providers to assess, diagnose, plan, and implement effective oxygen therapy, thereby improving effective treatment. The Vinmec Times City International Hospital’s Continuing Medical Education Center offers this CME program based on materials aligned with best practices within the Vinmec Healthcare System. The program comprises 30 theoretical and practical training sessions. Completing this program, participants will receive a CME certificate as per the Ministry of Health's Circular No. 32/2023/TT-BYT dated December 31, 2023, on Continuing Medical Education guidelines.
1. The mission of the training program:
- To strengthen and standardize the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of nurses, midwives, and technicians in the practice of oxygen therapy.
Knowledge: - Describe the scientific basis of oxygen therapy.
- Describe the indications and contraindications for oxygen administration.
- Describe the characteristics, appropriate selection of medical supplies, equipment, and devices used in oxygen therapy.
- Explain the steps involved in the oxygen therapy procedure.
- Analyze potential complications and their management during and after oxygen therapy.
Skills:
- Determine the appropriate oxygen flow rate and target oxygen saturation for patients.
- Select suitable medical equipment and devices for oxygen therapy for individual patients.
- Perform safe and effective oxygen therapy techniques on models/simulated patients or actual patients according to Vinmec Hospital standards.
Attitudes:
- Demonstrate promptness and accuracy in performing oxygen therapy to ensure treatment effectiveness and patient safety.
