After many difficulties, the 27-week-old twins finally returned to their mother in good health

Winning life—this difficult task is the first goal that premature/extremely premature babies must overcome after birth. In that journey, the companionship of a team of experienced doctors, a system of modern equipment, and advanced technology is indispensable. After many pains and hardships, with faith and determination, Ms. Hoai Thu successfully gave birth to twins at Vinmec Times City International Hospital.

When everything was back on track and the two beloved children were safe, the brave mother shared her thoughts about the journey to have her children and thanked the team of highly qualified, dedicated, and responsible doctors and nurses.

Below is an excerpt from Ms. Hoai Thu's letter:

74 days in the hospital, happy and sad—those days I will never forget. The feeling of happiness when I heard the news of having 2 children, everything was bright like fire, but the joy did not last long before sadness came... When the water broke and I had to have a cesarean section at week 27, the 3 of us could only see each other for a moment before we had to part. Looking at the 2 little ones lying in the incubator with breathing tubes, my heart ached.

When the day Doctor Thai informed me that my children were being kept in Kangaroo, I was very happy but my children had not been able to get rid of the breathing tubes, so I was desperate. Then, after 60 days, I could not believe that I could take care of my children so soon. I was very confused, but Ms. Dung gave me detailed instructions. Not long after my children returned to the room with me, Cu Cai choked on milk, stopped breathing, and turned purple. After 1 minute of emergency care, my children were able to breathe, but I could only stand outside with my limbs limp.

That time was like a long nightmare for me. Luckily, in the NICU, I was helped by the ladies, aunts, and sisters, so my children and I can overcame the most critical period. I still remember Dr. Thai, Mrs. Binh, Ms. Nga, Ms. Thu, and Dung B who encouraged and comforted me. Although Mr. Tuan was still very young and had no family, he took good care of my children and always smiled kindly and openly with my family. Thank you, Ms. Lan, Ms. Dung, Mr. Tuan, Ms. Thuy, Ms. Oanh, Hien, Nga, Thu, Quyen, and Ms. Nga in the emergency department.

My family would like to especially thank Dr. Trieu Thi Hong Thai, who was the main treatment for Kim Chi and Cu Cai. He was very dedicated and encouraged me whenever I was weak. The doctor truly deserves the saying "A doctor is like a kind mother"—very good at his profession and responsible.

It is truly precious that here are all the healthcare staff with golden hearts, all of whom have noble and responsible deeds for the lives of children, which moved me to tears.

There are many more golden hearts, such as: Doctor Ngo Van Dan, Doctor Quynh, Ha, Ms. Thu, Anh Lan, Nga, Dung, Tho, Tham, and many others. My children and I would like to send our deepest thanks to the Neonatal Department, the doctors, and the nurses for always being healthy and successful, bringing life to the children, and bringing smiles to all families with premature babies who are examined and treated at the Neonatal Department of the Hospital.

I wish the doctors, nurses, and medical staff of the hospital good health, happiness, and more success in their work."
