Folic acid supplementation for patients being treated with folic acid antagonists such as methotrexate and for patients being treated for epilepsy with drugs such as hydantoin or patients being treated for hemolytic anemia.

2. How to use and dosage of Helmadol


How to take medicine: Helmadol is made in the form of film-coated tablets that should be used by patients orally. Patients should take the drug with water, not with alcoholic beverages.
Dosage of Helmadol for adults:
Use for prevention: take 1 tablet/day. Use for treatment: take according to the dose prescribed by the doctor. Dose used to treat megaloblastic anemia:
Initial dose: 5mg orally per day for 4 months. For malabsorption, up to 15mg per day can be used. Maintenance dose: 5mg orally, once every 1-7 days depending on disease condition. For children under 1 year old: 500 micrograms/kg per day. For children over 1 year old: use the same dosage as adults. Dosage of Helmadol for pregnant women:
The average dose is 200-400 micrograms per day to ensure the health of the mother and the fetus, in order to maintain normal concentrations in the fetus. For women with a history of pregnancy with a spinal canal abnormality, 4 to 5 mg of folic acid per day should be started before pregnancy and continued throughout the first 3 months of pregnancy.

3. Side effects of the drug Helmadol


During use, Helmadol may cause some of the following side effects:
Digestive disorders may occur with the following manifestations: nausea, abdominal pain, diarrhea or constipation. Passing dark, green or black, tarry stools. Some cases of severe allergic reactions such as rash, hives, itching, difficulty breathing, swelling of the mouth, chest tightness, etc. The drug may cause stomach cramps, pain or discomfort in the stomach, vomiting. loss of appetite,... 4. Precautions when using Helmadol


Helmadol is contraindicated in some of the following cases:
Patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug Helmadol. Patients with iron-infected liver disease, hemolytic anemia, polycythemia vera. For patients with normal blood iron levels, Helmadol should not be used for a long time to avoid iron overload.
