Functions/Responsibilities: The Department of Laboratory Medicine provides comprehensive testing services across various specialized fields, including Hematology - Blood Transfusion, Biochemistry - Immunology, Microbiology, and Pathology, ranging from basic to advanced and specialized tests, with rapid result turnaround times. All tests are conducted according to standardized procedures and subjected to rigorous quality control to ensure accurate results that meet the diagnostic and treatment needs of patients.

Medical Team: Dr. Truong Cong Duan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Gia Binh, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Mai Phuong, Specialist Dr. level 2 Hoang Huong Huyen, Resident Dr. Nguyen Thi Kim Hue.

Hematology - Blood Transfusion: Conducting analyses, evaluations, and consultations for hematology tests including complete blood counts, body fluid cell analysis, and bone marrow examinations for the diagnosis or differential diagnosis of underlying hematologic disorders.
Performing and consulting on immunohematology tests: Abnormal antibody screening, Coombs tests, blood typing, difficult blood typing, compatibility testing, and blood selection. Conducting and consulting on hemostasis tests, including anticoagulant medication monitoring and coagulation assays.
Biochemistry - Immunology: Performing biochemical and immunological tests on blood, urine, and body fluids; conducting prenatal and postnatal screening tests; providing consultation and support for clinical testing related to obstetric, pediatric, neonatal, infertility, reproductive health issues, cancer screening, diabetes, endocrine disorders, and cardiovascular diseases.
Microbiology: Diagnosing common and rare pathogenic microorganisms (bacteria, viruses, parasites, and fungi), including those causing outbreaks and pandemics. Diagnosing opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients. Identifying hospital-acquired infections and determining the qualitative and quantitative antibiotic susceptibility of pathogenic bacteria and fungi. Detecting antibiotic resistance in bacteria through phenotypic and genotypic methods, as well as resistance mechanisms.
Pathology: Conducting cytological tests of cervical and vaginal samples, fine needle aspiration cytology, body fluid cytology, and tissue pathology tests including biopsies and surgical specimens. Performing immunohistochemical staining and special staining techniques, as well as molecular biology tests. Providing second opinions for pathological assessments
