1.What is X Plended Tablet 10mg?
Each film-coated X Plended Tablet 10mg contains Rosuvastatin 10 mg, in the form of Rosuvastatin calcium.
Rosuvastatin is a selective and competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme that plays a key role in converting 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A into mevalonate—a precursor of cholesterol. The primary site of action of Rosuvastatin is the liver, which is the target organ for reducing cholesterol. Rosuvastatin works by increasing the number of LDL receptors on the surface of liver cells, enhancing LDL uptake and breakdown while inhibiting the production of VLDL.
Rosuvastatin lowers elevated levels of LDL-cholesterol, total cholesterol, and triglycerides while increasing HDL-C levels. It also reduces concentrations of apoB, non-HDL-C, VLDL-C, VLDL-TG, and increases apoA-I levels.
2.What is the purpose of X Plended Tablet 10mg?
X Plended Tablet 10mg is indicated for the following medical conditions:
- As an adjunct to diet to reduce elevated levels of total cholesterol, LDL-C, apoB, non-HDL-C, and triglycerides, while increasing HDL-C levels in patients with primary hypercholesterolemia (heterozygous familial or non-familial) and for the treatment of mixed dyslipidemia (Fredrickson type IIa and IIb).
- As an adjunct to diet for treating patients with elevated serum triglycerides (Fredrickson type IV).
- To lower LDL-C, total cholesterol, and apoB levels in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia.
3.Dosage and Administration of X Plended Tablet 10mg
X Plended Tablet 10mg is formulated as film-coated tablets and is administered orally.
Start with 5 mg or 10 mg of Rosuvastatin once daily, taken by mouth. If necessary, the dose can be adjusted every 4 weeks. The 40 mg dose of Rosuvastatin is reserved for patients with severe hypercholesterolemia at high risk of cardiovascular disease who do not achieve their treatment goals with the 20 mg dose. These patients should be closely monitored.
4.Contraindications of X Plended Tablet 10mg
X Plended Tablet 10mg is contraindicated in the following cases:
- Patients with hypersensitivity to any components of this medication.
- Patients with active liver disease or those with persistent elevations of serum transaminase levels.
- Use of Rosuvastatin in women of childbearing potential is only permitted if they are confirmed not to be pregnant and have been thoroughly informed about the potential risks of this medication. If a patient becomes pregnant while taking this drug, treatment should be discontinued immediately, and the patient should be made aware of the potential risks to the fetus. This medication is contraindicated for use in women who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
5.Warnings for Using X Plended Tablet 10mg
The following precautions should be observed when using X Plended Tablet 10mg:
- Liver enzyme levels should be tested before initiating treatment with X Plended Tablet 10mg.
- Use with caution in patients who consume large amounts of alcohol or have a history of liver disease.
- Muscle-Related Conditions: Use cautiously in patients with risk factors for muscle-related diseases, such as liver or kidney impairment. Patients should be advised to report unexplained muscle pain, stiffness, or weakness, particularly if accompanied by malaise or fever.
- Before treatment by X Plended tablet 10mg: Creatine kinase (CK) levels should be tested in cases such as renal dysfunction, hypothyroidism, personal or family history of hereditary muscle disorders, previous muscle issues with statins or fibrates, liver disease, alcohol consumption, elderly patients (>70 years) with rhabdomyolysis risk, or uncontrolled hypothyroidism. Treatment with statins should be avoided if CK levels are more than 5 times the upper limit of normal.
- During Treatment, patients should immediately report any muscle symptoms (e.g., pain, stiffness, weakness). If such symptoms occur, CK levels should be tested, and appropriate measures taken based on results.
- Monitor closely for adverse reactions during treatment. Discontinue Rosuvastatin if CK levels rise excessively or if muscle disease is diagnosed or suspected.
6.Side Effects of X Plended Tablet 10mg
The adverse reactions to X Plended Tablet 10mg are generally mild and temporary. Clinical studies indicate that 3.7% of patients discontinued the medication due to adverse reactions related to Rosuvastatin. The most common side effects associated with X Plended Tablet 10mg include muscle pain, constipation, weakness, abdominal pain, and nausea. Other possible side effects are as follows:
- General: Abdominal pain, chest pain, infections, neck pain.
- Cardiovascular: Hypertension, angina, palpitations.

- Endocrine: Increased risk of diabetes.
Metabolism/Nutrition: Peripheral edema. - Musculoskeletal System: Arthritis, joint pain, pathological fractures.
- Nervous System: Dizziness, insomnia, hypertonia, paresthesia, depression, anxiety, vertigo, neuralgia.
- Respiratory System: Bronchitis, persistent cough, shortness of breath, pneumonia.
- Skin: Rash, itching
7.Drug Interactions of X Plended Tablet 10mg
The following drug interactions may occur with X Plended Tablet 10mg:
- Cyclosporine: Co-administration of Rosuvastatin with cyclosporine in heart transplant patients has been shown to increase the Cmax of Rosuvastatin by an average of 11-fold and the AUC by an average of 7-fold compared to healthy volunteers. This significant pharmacokinetic increase requires careful adjustment of Rosuvastatin dosage in patients taking cyclosporine.
- Warfarin: Combining Rosuvastatin with warfarin in patients stabilized on warfarin therapy can increase the INR (international normalized ratio) to over 4 (from a baseline of 2–3).
- For patients on Coumarin anticoagulants, INR should be measured before starting Rosuvastatin therapy.
- Gemfibrozil: Co-administration of a single dose of Rosuvastatin with gemfibrozil (600 mg twice daily) in healthy volunteers can alter the pharmacokinetics of Rosuvastatin.
X Plended tablet 10mg is a medication belonging to the statin group, which is used to lower blood lipids. It is commonly prescribed in clinical practice at a dose of 1 tablet per day. To ensure effectiveness and avoid undesirable side effects, patients should follow the instructions provided by their doctor or pharmacist.
