1. What is Fastum Gel?

Fastum Gel belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), containing the active ingredient ketoprofen. In addition, the drug contains excipients such as carbomer 940, ethanol, orange blossom extract, lavender extract, triethanolamine, and purified water. In terms of appearance, Fastum Gel is a colorless, almost transparent gel.
 

2. What does Fastum Gel do?

Fastum Gel is used to relieve pain, inflammation, and swelling in painful conditions affecting joints and muscles. It is extremely effective in treating muscle strains, sprains, back pain, and sports injuries, as well as pain caused by tendonitis.
Note, the drug is for adults and children over 12 years of age. Do not use Fastum Gel in the following cases:

  • Allergic to ketoprofen or any other ingredient of the drug;
  • Allergic to UV blockers (sunscreens) or perfumes;
  • Allergic to aspirin, other NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen, meloxicam), or any pain relievers or anti-inflammatory drugs. Signs of an allergic reaction include wheezing (asthma), runny nose (rhinitis), or itchy rash (hives);
  • Allergic to fenofibrate, a drug that lowers cholesterol in the blood;
     

3. How to use and dosage of Fastum Gel

3.1. How to use
Here are the instructions for using Fastum properly:

  • Turn off the cap and puncture the aluminum seal at the top of the cap.
  • Do not apply too much Fastum Gel and wash your hands immediately after use;
  • Do not use Fastum Gel near the eyes, mouth, nostrils, anal area and genitals;
  • Do not apply Fastum Gel to sore, broken or infected skin;
  • Stop using Fastum Gel if you experience a rash, itching or skin sensitivity after use;
  • Do not expose the skin treated with Fastum Gel to direct sunlight during treatment or for the next 2 weeks.
  • Do not use Fastum Gel for more than 10 consecutive days. If your symptoms persist after 10 days, talk to your doctor.

3.2. Dosage
Apply a 5-10 cm (2-4 inches) strip of gel to the affected skin area two or three times a day. Gently massage the gel into the affected skin area.
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not use a double dose to make up for a missed dose.
 

4. Side effects of Fastum Gel

Like all medicines, Fastum Gel can cause side effects. Stop using Fastum Gel and see your doctor or go to the hospital immediately if you notice any of the following side effects:

  • Local allergic reactions on the skin such as redness, swelling, itching and blisters, etc. In some severe cases, they can also spread beyond the area of ​​application (uncommon side effects; the rate of occurrence is 1/100 people)
  • The patient may experience a severe skin reaction (similar to severe sunburn) when exposed to sunlight (rare side effects; the rate of occurrence is 1/1000 people)
  • More severe cases of eczema that can spread or affect the whole body rarely occur. (rare side effects; the incidence is 1/1000 people.)
     

5. Use the drug safely

  • To avoid side effects of Fastum Gel, patients need to inform their doctor if they have a disease related to the heart, liver, or kidneys.
  • Using large amounts of Fastum Gel can cause side effects such as hypersensitivity and asthma. If you have asthma as well as persistent runny nose, sinusitis, or nasal polyps, you may be at higher risk of allergic reactions to aspirin or similar drugs than other people.
  • Exposure to sunlight (even in fog) or ultraviolet rays from tanning beds or solariums in areas treated with Fastum Gel can cause potentially serious skin reactions (photodermatitis).
