What does an afternoon fever indicate? Is it concerning?

Normally, in the afternoon, our body temperature may slightly increase, but this condition is not harmful to our health. However, prolonged afternoon fever over time can indicate  a hidden illness. Therefore, you should be cautious if this condition occurs.

"Afternoon fever" is a concern for many people, especially parents, as children are susceptible to this condition. Below are some underlying conditions that may present with afternoon fever symptoms.

Conditions such as hepatitis, fibrosis, and liver cancer can cause afternoon fever. Viruses can damage and impair the liver, affecting the bile ducts. As a result, liver function declines, and its ability to eliminate toxins is compromised. When toxins accumulate in the body over time, they can lead to fever.
Initially, individuals with liver diseases may experience mild, transient fever. As the condition worsens, the frequency and duration of the fever may increase. In addition, patients with liver disease might suffer from other symptoms like nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, jaundice …

Patients with meningitis infection must follow the doctor's treatment plan carefully.

Tuberculosis is a bacterial infection that causes mild fever. In addition to fever, patients with tuberculosis may experience symptoms such as dry cough, persistent cough, coughing up blood, dizziness, diarrhea, and headache.
