WHO recommendations on the use of table salt
Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) are a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The costs of interventions to reduce the prevalence and severity of NCDs are high. Salt consumption is associated with increased NCDs (including hypertension, cardiovascular disease and stroke). Reducing salt intake can reduce blood pressure and the associated risks of NCDs.
