Prediabetes is when blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be considered diabetes. Prediabetes is diagnosed when blood sugar levels are between 5.6-6.9 mmol/L or HbA1c levels are between 5.7-6.4%, or when the patient performs a prediabetes test, the glucose tolerance test, and the blood sugar index 2 hours after performing the test is between 7.8 - 11mmol/L.
