Myelomeningocele is a protrusion of the meninges without the spinal cord or nerve tissue. The lesion usually occurs along the spine and can vary in size. This is a structural disorder of the spine caused by neural tube defects and can be diagnosed by conventional imaging methods such as spinal X-rays for early surgical intervention in children.
