Lung cancer accounts for approximately one-third of cancer deaths. The incidence of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is increasing in patients who have never smoked or have a minimal smoking history.

In Vietnam, each year there are approximately 23,667 new cases and 20,170 deaths from lung cancer. Early detection of lung tumors, especially lung cancer, is particularly important. Lung CT scan is considered an effective method in identifying lung tumors.

About one-third of lung cancer patients are diagnosed with localized disease that can be treated with surgical resection. If the patient is not a candidate for surgical resection (due to old age, medical comorbidities or the patient refuses surgery) it is completely possible to treat with radical radiotherapy.
