L-ornithine L-aspartate (LOLA) is the stable salt form of two amino acids ornithine and aspartic acid, indicated in acute and chronic liver diseases, such as cirrhosis, fatty liver, hepatitis, associated with elevated ammonia blood, especially in neurological complications (hepatic encephalopathy). LOLA stimulates the synthesis of urea and glutamine rings, which play an important role in the detoxification mechanism of ammonia.
