Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic, nonspecific, or recurrent inflammatory bowel disease. The colon is considered to be the major target organ of ulcerative colitis, whereas upper gastrointestinal (UGI) manifestations are infrequent. Recently, emerging evidence suggests that ulcerative colitis causes complications in mucosal damage to the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum.
