Cancer is the most common cause of death worldwide and a major cause of death in the UK, accounting for 29% of deaths from noncommunicable diseases. In 2012, there were 8.2 million cancer-related deaths worldwide and an estimated 14.1 million cancer cases, which is expected to increase to 24 million by 2035.
