Anesthesia during bronchoscopy
Bronchoscopy is a procedure that allows doctors to see inside the tube that leads to the lungs, thereby diagnosing diseases, taking samples for testing, or removing foreign objects from the bronchi that the patient accidentally inhales. During bronchoscopy, the doctor will insert a small tube into the nose or mouth, through the throat and into the lungs. This can cause discomfort for the patient, and natural reflexes such as vomiting and coughing make the procedure more difficult and dangerous.
