Amniotic band syndrome is a rare condition in which bands of amniotic sac membrane separate and become entangled with the baby’s fingers, toes, or other parts of the body. This constriction can cause a variety of complications, depending on the location of the amniotic bands and how tightly they are wrapped. However, in some cases, babies are born with functional disabilities in parts of their bodies.
