Overview

With a multidisciplinary approach to treatment, Vinmec Smart City has developed the Physical Rehabilitation specialty to provide pre-, intra-, and post-operative care services for patients. Our team of doctors and rehabilitation technicians are highly trained and experienced in improving functional impairments and limitations in patients caused by various medical conditions and specific injuries.

Outpatient Services: The department treats conditions related to the spine, such as cervical and shoulder pain, back pain due to spinal degeneration or herniated discs, neurological disorders, including rehabilitation for stroke patients, Parkinson's disease patients, and other peripheral nerve injuries. 

It also addresses musculoskeletal issues, such as arthritis, stiffness, muscle atrophy, post-operative cases, artificial joint replacements, and restrictions in joint range of motion after immobilization, as well as respiratory conditions like COPD and chest physiotherapy in children.

Inpatient Services: The department supports treatment in collaboration with other specialties, including:

+ Orthopedics: Management of musculoskeletal disorders such as arthritis, degenerative joint disease, cervical and lumbar spine issues.

+ Neurology: Treatment of neurological disorders, movement disorders, ischemic strokes, hemorrhagic strokes, and brain tumors.

+ Vestibular Rehabilitation: Utilizing the Epley maneuver for the treatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo.

+ Pulmonology: Assisting in the treatment of respiratory conditions through techniques such as chest percussion, postural drainage, exercise, breathing exercises, and effective coughing techniques.

+ General Surgery: Supporting rehabilitation for post-operative orthopedic injuries, early mobilization for patients after gastrointestinal and urological surgeries.

+ Pediatrics: Assisting in the treatment of respiratory conditions using chest percussion techniques, addressing developmental delays in movement, peripheral nerve injuries, and congenital muscular torticollis.

+ Obstetrics: Assisting in the treatment of breast engorgement after childbirth and cases of urinary retention post-delivery.

+ Intensive Care: Early mobilization and out-of-bed activities for patients in the ICU, as well as respiratory rehabilitation.
