Palpitations, nervousness, and trembling hands are not only emotional responses but may also signal underlying health conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, hyperthyroidism, autonomic nervous system disorders, and more.
1. What Health Conditions Are Indicated by Palpitations, Nervousness, and Trembling Hands?
If you experience palpitations and trembling hands, it could be associated with one of the following conditions:
1.1 Hypotension
People with hypotension have blood pressure readings below 90/60 mmHg. Common symptoms include fatigue, dizziness, weakness, difficulty concentrating, irritability, palpitations, and trembling limbs.
1.2 Cardiac Neurological Disorders and Sinus Tachycardia
Cardiac neurological disorders often cause excessive anxiety, leading to palpitations, a racing heartbeat, and trembling hands. Sinus tachycardia occurs when overstimulation of the cardiac nerves accelerates the heart’s sinoatrial node, resulting in a rapid heartbeat.
1.3 Hypoglycemia
Hypoglycemia, characterized by abnormally low blood sugar levels, presents symptoms such as sudden fatigue, headache, dizziness, hunger pangs, sweating, tingling sensations, trembling hands, heavy legs, palpitations, nausea, and sometimes vomiting.
1.4 Hyperthyroidism
Hyperthyroidism arises when the thyroid gland produces excessive thyroid hormones (thyroxine and triiodothyronine), accelerating metabolism to abnormal levels. Symptoms include severe weight loss, anxiety, rapid heartbeat, impaired motor function, high body temperature, sweating, hand tremors, double vision, and an enlarged thyroid gland
1.5 Hunger
Hunger can also manifest as palpitations and trembling limbs, signaling the body’s need for energy replenishment. These symptoms can quickly subside with adequate food intake.

If these symptoms occur suddenly and are unrelated to nutritional deficiencies or dehydration (e.g., due to diarrhea or vomiting), they may stem from heart rhythm disorders. Consider the following methods:
-Forceful coughing: This maneuver increases pressure in the chest, helping slow the heart rate.
-Wash your face or drink cold water: Cooling can help reset the heart rhythm.
-Practice deep breathing: Slowly inhale, hold your breath for 3–5 seconds, then exhale gradually.
-Perform the Valsalva maneuver: Pinch your nose, take a deep breath through your mouth, then close your mouth and exhale forcefully without letting the air escape for at least 15 seconds. This maneuver increases chest pressure, helping normalize the heart rate. However, individuals with a history of myocardial infarction, ischemic heart disease, or coronary artery disease should not perform this maneuver without medical supervision.
For persistent or recurrent palpitations and trembling hands, consult a physician to identify the underlying condition and receive appropriate treatment. Additionally, adopt a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and stress management to support overall well-being.
