What is Limzer?

Limzer is prescribed to treat a number of gastrointestinal diseases such as gastroesophageal reflux, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, etc. So what is Limzer?

1. What is Limzer?

   1.1 Ingredients

Limzer is a digestive medication commonly prescribed for the treatment of various gastrointestinal conditions. It contains two active ingredients:

  • Omeprazole 20 mg
  • Domperidone 30 mg

   1.2. Indications

Limzer is indicated for the following conditions:

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  • Esophagitis caused by GERD
  • Dyspepsia (indigestion) due to mild gastric stasis and GERD
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

   1.3. Contraindications

Limzer should not be used in the following situations:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the medication
  • Simultaneous use with CYP3A4 inhibitors that can prolong the QT interval on ECG, such as ketoconazole, fluconazole, voriconazole, erythromycin, clarithromycin, amiodarone, itraconazole, amprenavir, fosamprenavir, atazanavir, indinavir, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir, diltiazem, verapamil, or neurokinin-1 receptor antagonists for nausea.

   1.4. Caution when using Limzer

  • Patients with severe liver impairment should regularly monitor liver enzymes while using Limzer, especially for prolonged periods. If liver enzyme levels rise, you should discontinue using Limzer.
  • Before using Limzer, any underlying malignancies in the stomach or esophagus should be ruled out, as the medication can mask symptoms of such conditions, making diagnosis more difficult.
  • Use with caution in patients with prolonged heart conduction time, particularly prolonged QT intervals, electrolyte imbalances (e.g., hypokalemia, hypomagnesemia), cardiovascular diseases like congestive heart failure; No dose adjustment is necessary for elderly or renal impairment patients.

2. Dosage and Administration

For adults, Limzer is typically prescribed as 1 tablet per day. It is best to take the medication at least 1 hour before a meal or at least 2 hours after eating.

Overdose symptoms may include confusion, blurred vision, drowsiness, rapid heartbeat, dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, flushing, headache, diarrhea, and increased bowel movements.

There is no specific antidote for Limzer. Omeprazole is highly protein bound and is therefore not dialyzable. In case of Limzer overdose, symptomatic treatment should be given and gastric lavage may be effective.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s close to your next dose, skip the missed dose and proceed with your regular schedule.
