What is Virless Cream? Virless Cream 5% belongs to the group of medications used to treat parasitic infections, fungal infections, and bacterial infections. The medication is formulated as an external-use cream. For specific uses and instructions on how to use Virless Cream 5%, please refer to the article below.
1. What is the effect of Virless Cream?
The medication contains the active ingredient Acyclovir with a concentration of 50mg, along with other excipients. Virless Cream 5% is commonly prescribed for the treatment of skin infections caused by the Herpes Simplex virus, including both initial and recurrent genital herpes and cold sores.
Do not use the medication for patients who are allergic or sensitive to the active ingredient Acyclovir or any excipients.
2. Pharmacodynamics and Pharmacokinetics of Virless Cream 5%
Acyclovir is a synthetic purine nucleoside analogue. This active ingredient works by inhibiting, both in vitro and in vivo, the herpesvirus that causes infections in humans.
Acyclovir is partially absorbed in the intestine. After administering 200mg doses every 4 hours, the average maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) at steady state is 3.1 micromol (i.e., 0.7 mcg/ml), and the minimum concentration (Cmin) is 1.8 micromol (i.e., 0.4 mcg/ml). After doses of 400mg and 800mg every 4 hours, the peak concentrations are 5.3 micromol (i.e., 1.2 mcg/ml) and 8 micromol (i.e., 1.8 mcg/ml), while the minimum concentrations are 2.7 micromol (i.e., 0.6 mcg/ml) and 4 micromol (i.e., 0.9 mcg/ml), respectively.
Acyclovir in its topical form is rapidly absorbed through the corneal epithelium and surface tissues of the eye, resulting in concentrations sufficient to inhibit the virus in the aqueous humor. No acyclovir was found in the blood after topical application; however, traces of the drug were detected in urine, although with no therapeutic effect.
When acyclovir is used systemically, standard international tests do not show any evidence of toxicity to the fetus or teratogenic effects in rabbits, mice, or rats. Studies on two generations of mice found no effects of oral acyclovir on fertility, and the same was observed in humans. Acyclovir tablets show no significant effect on the quantity, morphology, or motility of sperm in humans.
3. Dosage and Administration of Virless Cream 5%
