Pharmacodynamics of Nospa 40mg

In our body, the enzyme Phosphodiesterase-4 (PDE4) inhibits the contractility of smooth muscle, and Phosphodiesterase-3 (PDE3) hydrolyzes cAMP in the myocardium and the muscle in the blood vessels.

Drotaverine is a derivative of Isoquinoline, which selectively inhibits PDE-4, not enzymes of the same group like PDE-3. Therefore, Drotaverine can be effectively applied in the treatment of hypermotility disorders and diseases associated with gastrointestinal, urinary, genitourinary or vascular smooth muscle spasms without adverse effects on the myocardium.

The effect of Drotaverine is independent of the distribution of the autonomic nervous system on the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, biliary tract, urinary system, genitourinary system, and blood vessels.
