Fugacar is a deworming medication primarily used to treat intestinal infections caused by worms including pinworms, roundworms, hookworms, and whipworms. Since it is available in tablet form, it is important to chew the tablets thoroughly before swallowing. To better understand how to take fugacar, here is some detailed information.
1. What is Fugacar?
Fugacar is a licensed product manufactured in Vietnam using the technology of Janssen Pharmaceutica N.V. in Beerse, Belgium.
Fugacar is a deworming medication that contains 500mg of Mebendazole as its active ingredient. Mebendazole works by inhibiting the formation of tubular microstructures in worms’ bodies. This disruption leads to disorders in their glucose absorption and digestive functions, ultimately promoting self-decomposition. As a result, Fugacar helps facilitate the excretion of worms through feces.
1.1 Indications
FUGACAR 500mg is prescribed for the treatment of infections caused by one or more types of gastrointestinal worms, including Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Ancylostoma duodenale, and Necator americanus (hookworm).
This medication is intended for use in children aged 2 years and older.
1.2 Contraindications
Fugacar is contraindicated in the following individuals:
- Those who are hypersensitive to any ingredient in the drug
- Children under 1 year old due to the risk of convulsions
2. Dosage and administration of Fugaca
- Dosage:
Administer 1 single dose of Fugacar 500mg for both children and adults
- How to use:
There is no need to follow a diet or use laxatives. Chew the Fugacar 500mg tablet completely before swallowing. Do not swallow the whole tablet.
For individuals who have difficulty chewing, place Fugacar 500mg tablet on a spoon and add 2-3 ml of drinking water. Within 2 minutes, the tablet will absorb water and form a soft, semi-solid mass, making it easier for patients to swallow.
For individuals at the risk of choking, such as children, it is recommended to use the oral suspension form of FUGACAR.
The deworming medicine can be taken at any daytime such as in the morning, noon, or evening. However, using it in the morning on an empty stomach is recommended.

3. Side effects of fugacar
Several unexpected side effects of Fugacar include:
- Digestive disorders: Abdominal pain, loss of appetite, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting.
- Neurological disorders: Convulsions and dizziness.
- Immune disorders: Hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions.
- Blood and lymphatic system disorders: Agranulocytosis and neutropenia.
- Hepatobiliary disorders: Hepatitis and abnormal liver function tests.
- Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, rash, urticaria, and alopecia.
- Urinary disorders: Glomerulonephritis.
While side effects of Fugacar are rarely observed, particularly with long-term and high-dose use, it is crucial to immediately notify your doctor or pharmacist of any adverse reactions you experience when using the medication.
4. Drug interactions
- Certain drugs can interact with Fugacar, which can impact how the drug functions in the body.
- Cimetidine inhibits the metabolism of mebendazole in the liver, leading to an increased concentration of mebendazole in the bloodstream with prolonged use of Fugacar.
- Avoid using mebendazole with metronidazole at the same time as it raises the risk of Stevens-Johnson syndrome.

5. Notifications when using Fugacar?
For special subjects, it is necessary to note:
- For pregnant women, weigh the potential risks against the desired benefits of using FUGACAR 500mg, particularly during the first 3 months of pregnancy. Mebendazole has demonstrated signs of embryotoxicity and teratogenicity in studies involving rats and mice. However, no harmful effects on reproduction have been observed in other experimental animals.
- Breastfeeding women should be cautious when using FUGACAR 500mg because there is no available data regarding the excretion of mebendazole in breast milk.
Remember that each medication has specific guidelines for usage, dosage, and storage. Users should read the instructions on the packaging carefully to ensure proper storage. Fugacar should be stored at room temperature, away from humid areas, the refrigerator freezer, and direct sunlight.
