1. What is Bisolvon 8 mg?

Bisolvon 8 mg (Bromhexin) is a bronchial drug prepared in tablet form, often prescribed to treat respiratory diseases such as cough, airway obstruction due to phlegm, and acute and chronic bronchitis. The active ingredient, bromhexine, a synthetic derivative of the herbal active ingredient Vasicine in Bisolvon, increases the rate of bronchial secretion and reduces phlegm, making it easier for patients to cough and expectorate phlegm.

The advantage of Bisolvon 8 mg is that it has no sedative effect, so it does not cause drowsiness for the patient.

2. Instructions for using Bisolvon 8 mg

You should take Bisolvon with food to avoid gastrointestinal irritation. Here are suggested doses for adults and children:

2.1. Dosage for adults

  • Take Bisolvon 8 mg 3 times/day (1 tablet each time), which can increase to 6 tablets/day when starting treatment;
  • For Bisolvon 4mg/5ml syrup, take 10ml of medicine each time and 3 times/day.

2.2. Dosage for children

  • Children 12 years and older: Take Bisolvon 8 mg x 3 times/day;
  • Children 6-12 years old: Take Bisolvon 4 mg x 3 times/day;
  • Children 2-6 years old: Take Bisolvon 4 mg x 2 times/day.

In case of forgetting a dose, take it as soon as possible, but if the next dose is near, skip the missed dose, and take the next one as prescribed.

3. Side effects of Bisolvon 8mg

During the treatment of bronchial asthma with Bisolvon, you may experience unwanted side effects such as:

  • Immune system disorders;
  • Skin and tissue disorders;
  • Throat and mediastinal disorders;
  • Rash, itching, and other hypersensitivity reactions;
  • Gastrointestinal disorders;
  • Nausea and vomiting;
  • Upper abdominal pain and diarrhea;
  • Bronchospasm;
  • Dizziness, headache.

4. Notes when using Bisolvon 8mg

  • People with a history of stomach ulcers;
  • Elderly people, people with weakness, weak constitution, difficulty coughing up phlegm;
  • Patients with severe liver or kidney failure;
  • People with asthma;
  • People with lactose intolerance;
  • People with Coeliac disease.

There is currently no sufficient evidence of the effectiveness and safety of the drug when used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Therefore, you need to consult your doctor to consider the benefits and risks. You should avoid using this drug in the first 3 months of pregnancy to ensure safety.

5. Drug interactions Bisolvon 8mg

Some drugs that may interact with Bisolvon are:

  • Antibiotics such as Amoxicillin;
  • Tetracycline antibiotics;
  • Erythromycin;
  • Cefuroxime;
