Uses of Duotrav

Duotrav 2.5ml contains the main active ingredient:
Travoprost 40mcg. Timolol (Timolol Maleate) 5mg. The drug is in the form of eye drops.
Duotrav eye drops are used to treat glaucoma (a condition in which increased pressure in the eye can lead to gradual loss of vision).
The active ingredient Travoprost belongs to a group of drugs called prostaglandin analogs. Works to reduce pressure in the eye by increasing the natural flow of eye fluid out of the eye.
Timolol Maleate is a non-selective Beta Adrenergic drug. The mechanism of action of Timolol is to reduce the formation of aqueous humor and slightly increase the drainage, thus having a very effective anti-ocular pressure lowering effect.
The effect of reducing intraocular pressure by complementary mechanisms of action and the combined action of the two components leads to better IOP reduction than when using each component alone (effect synergistic).

2.1. Dosage Adults: eye drops once a day, in the morning or at night before going to bed. Children: There are no clinical data on safety and efficacy in children. Therefore, it is not recommended for these subjects. Use Duotrav 2.5ml exactly as directed. Do not use more, less or use Duotrav 2.5ml more often than prescribed by your doctor.
Duotrav eye drops only control glaucoma in the eyes but do not cure them. Patients should continue to use Duotrav even if your vision has improved. Do not stop using Duotrav without consulting your doctor.
2.2. How to use To use Duotrav 2.5ml eye drops effectively, follow these steps:
Before use wash your hands with soap and water. Check the dropper tip to make sure that the dropper tip is not chipped or cracked. Avoid touching the dropper tip or anything in the eye, eye drops and dropper should be kept clean. Tilt your head back, use your index finger to pull down the lower eyelid to form a pocket. Hold the dropper (head down) with your other hand, keeping the dropper as close to your eye as possible without touching your eye. Press the remaining fingers of the hand holding the dropper against your face. Eyes looking up, gently squeeze the bottle of Duotrav so that 1 drop falls into the pocket formed by the lower eyelid. Take your index finger away from your lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 2 to 3 minutes and lower your head as if looking at the floor. Try not to blink or clench your eyelids. Place your finger on the tear duct of your eye and press gently. Use a tissue or cloth to wipe off excess liquid from your face. Close the lid and tighten it. Do not wipe or wash the dropper tip. Wash hands to remove medication.

The use of the drug in addition to the benefits that Duotrav provides, like all medicines, Duotrav can cause some side effects but may not occur in all users. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away: eye pain or irritation, blurred vision, dry eyes, watery eyes, headache.

Corneal dystrophy.
