[Vinmec Phu Quoc] Basic Life Support training for medical staff throughout the region

On July 20 and 21, 2023, Vinmec Phu Quoc International Hospital in collaboration with Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Medical University Hospital successfully organized a training program on Basic Life Support (BLS) for medical staff of ward and commune health centers across the island.

This is a nuclear training program on BLS for commune and ward health facilities, thereby expanding the training program to the community, increasing the number of people capable of providing first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in drowning cases, circulatory arrest at the scene before moving to the hospital.

Participated and guidied at the event are Dr. Khuong Quoc Dai (A9 Emergency Center, Bach Mai Hospital), Dr. Tran Huyen Trang (Emergency & Intensive Care Department, Hanoi Medical University Hospital), and Dr. Ho Dang Minh Hoang (Emergency Resuscitation Department, Vinmec Phu Quoc International Hospital). Doctors gave specialized guidance on basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation theory; instruct medical staff to practice according to scenarios. Participants will receive feedback from experts, scoring according to individual and team practice.

According to the survey, Vinmec has received positive feedback from the participating staff. "The instructors of the training program delivered theoretical lectures and practical demonstrations very well and in an understandable way. Although we only practiced on models instead of directly providing real-life emergency care to patients, I, like other students, found it easy to imagine various handling methods, problem-solving approaches, and honed skills for responding promptly to injured patients." shared one participant after the training session.

Dr. Khuong Quoc Dai and Dr. Tran Huyen Trang, instructors at the BLS training session, expressed their joy in participating and sharing their expertise in Phu Quoc Island, where the local healthcare system in communes and wards faces challenges, particularly in emergency resuscitation capabilities for residents and tourists. Additionally, the two doctors highly praised Vinmec Phu Quoc International Hospital for thorough preparations, providing adequate facilities and equipment, ensuring the smooth execution of the program.

For Dr.Ho Dang Minh Hoang, this is not the first time he has participated in organizing BLS training programs like this. "Regularly, Vinmec Phu Quoc organizes short-term training courses on emergency resuscitation for employees of hotels, resorts, and tourism facilities in the area. This program is special as we, along with colleagues from Bach Mai Hospital and Hanoi Medical University Hospital, directly support skills, training, and certification for doctors and nurses in healthcare facilities on Phu Quoc Island." shared Dr. Hoang.

Vinmec Phu Quoc International Hospital is confident that through this program, participants will return to their localities with enhanced skills in initial management of cases requiring cardiac and pulmonary resuscitation. There are also plans for separate training sessions for local residents on emergency resuscitation, tailored to the orientation and infrastructure of each unit.
