[Vinmec Phu Quoc] Over 200 participants to join Vinmec's health education program on sexually transmitted diseases

Recently, Vinmec Phu Quoc International Hospital, with the mission of "Care with talent, ethics, and empathy," collaborated with Corona Company to organize a workshop to share information about commonly encountered sexually transmitted diseases. This event garnered the participation of over 200 company staff members, aiming to enhance healthcare knowledge and disease prevention.

During the workshop, company's employees had the opportunity to listen to Dr. Vo Ha Bang Suong – General Internal Medicine Specialist sharing knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases and safe sexual practices to prevent infections. Dr. Suong emphasized, "Sexually transmitted diseases can be entirely preventable if individuals have a consciousness to protect themselves and possess basic knowledge of sexual health."

Dr. Suong also discussed prevalent sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, genital warts, gonorrhea, HIV, which are on the rise among young people, particularly within the LGBT community. Lack of awareness about these diseases, along with feelings of embarrassment and stigma, creates barriers for patients to access healthcare, treatment, and prevent transmission within the community.

During the workshop, participants confidently shared and asked questions about preventive measures and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases. Dr. Suong received and answered these questions with experience, knowledge, and sincerity. After two lively hours of exchange and discussion, the specialized workshop on "Common Sexually Transmitted Diseases" provided valuable information and updated knowledge from Dr. Suong to all staff members of Corona Company.

Several participants from the workshop have registered for appointments with doctors to receive advice on preventive measures and pre-exposure prophylaxis for HIV. Participants also felt more at ease sharing details about their sexual orientation with the doctor to receive the most specific advice, something they had not previously disclosed, instead dealing with anxieties about diseases on their own.

Through this event, Vinmec Phu Quoc aims to contribute to raising community awareness about prevention, early screening, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV. The commitment of Vinmec Phu Quoc is to be a trusted choice for the people of the island in their journey to protect, care for, and improve their health.
