Are chest pain symptoms affected by heart disease?
Question
Hello doctor,
My 15-year-old has signs of chest pain. In the past, this condition was not frequent and only took a few minutes to go away. But recently, this condition started to appear more often and lasted for a long time, sometimes it hurt for a whole day. The pain comes from the middle of the chest and sometimes spreads to the bottom of the left breast, I still feel pain in the abdomen but only a little bit. I have a history of heart disease, specifically myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia, sometimes I have sharp pain in my heart but rarely have difficulty breathing, when I feel short of breath, I don't have pain but I feel like I have a heart attack. Chest pressure, difficulty breathing. I want to ask if chest pain symptoms are affected by heart disease?

Hello,
With the question “Symptoms” Is chest pain affected by heart disease? ", the doctor would like to answer as follows:
Recent chest pain symptoms persisted for a whole day. Your history of myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia. Chest pain can have many causes, chest pain is an alarm sign of cardiovascular diseases as well as diseases of the respiratory system, digestive system, and other psychological causes.
Chest pain, if it is due to cardiovascular disease, is a dangerous, life-threatening condition at any time. With stable angina, which occurs only when the patient is exerted, pain relief at rest is a sign that the coronary arteries have begun to narrow, reducing blood perfusion to the heart.
Treatment methods for chest pain depend on the cause. With your condition, chest pain and a history of myocardial ischemia and arrhythmia should not exclude a cardiovascular cause, so you should not be subjective. You should see a specialist for early examination and treatment to prevent unfortunate risks.
If you still have questions about the symptoms of chest pain, you can go to a hospital of Vinmec Health System for further examination and advice. Thank you for trusting and sending questions to Vinmec. Wishing you lots of health.
Best regards!
