Kidney stones (or renal calculi) are stones that form in the urinary tract. This is the result of minerals in the urine crystallizing and depositing in the kidneys, forming stones over time. Kidney stones may have no symptoms and pass on their own. However, large stones can cause blockages, causing terrible renal colic.
