When a wife is pregnant with severe morning sickness, many husbands also experience symptoms similar to morning sickness, such as anxiety, mood swings, nausea, and weight gain. This symptom in men is called surrogate morning sickness syndrome.

Couvade syndrome describes a condition in which healthy men (whose partners are pregnant) experience symptoms related to pregnancy. Although some studies suggest that couvade syndrome may be quite common, it is not yet recognized as a disease or psychiatric condition.
